Key Responsibilities

  1.  Perform welding engineering
  2. Perform materials technology management
  3. Perform professional activities and responsibilities

Knowledge

  1. Technical expertise in the metallurgical and welding fields (fabrication and construction)
  2. Extensive knowledge of a nuclear plant and associated components
  3.  Extensive welding engineering knowledge regarding the power generation industry
  4.  Excellent knowledge of material properties, degradation mechanisms, life estimate techniques for nuclear plant
  5.  Excellent knowledge regarding the behaviour of materials
  6.  Project management
  7.  Root cause analysis principles
  8. In depth American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code knowledge for welding, inspection and practical application thereof
  9. Welding procedure development and review

Qualification

  • BSc/B Eng Degree in Metallurgy/Mechanical Engineering at NQF8 with 480 credits plus Registered as International Welding Engineer (IWE) according to International Institute of Welding document IAB-252r2-14.

Related Minimum Experience:

  • 4 years related experience in welded construction and manufacturing of parts and components as required for nuclear application
